Coinciding with the Hemingway Birthday Celebration is this years Key West Marlin Tournament. The marlin is one of the most prized sports fish in the Keys, the most beloved of Hemingway, and should attract a divers and skilled set of anglers. Last year a 550 pounder was caught but still fell short of the prize by three points, and with the fishing being as good as it has this year it should be even more exiting. The annual Ernest Hemingway look-alike contest is coming up later this month at Sloppy Joe’s Bar. This is one of the best yearly bar events for writing enthusiasts, beard lovers, or pretty much anyone interested in having a good time. The contest last four days, from July 21-24th and involves arm wrestling, a running of the bulls, and of course the look alike contest. The whole thing corresponds with a Key West street fair, which gets completely overrun with Hemingways. For more information and entry forms, click here.
