Everyone is invited to one of Key West’s most fun and much-loved spectacles happening May 14th, 2012. This annual fundraiser for the Visiting Nurse Assoc. & Hospice of the Florida Keys is a riotous good time– watch as La Te Da (1125 Duval St.) and Duval Street are taken over by promising potential pageant queens with a whole slew of talents! Contestants compete in comical and ever-entertaining categories such as “evening gown,” “talent” and of course, an interview to decide who will be crowned the new Queen Mother.
Doors open at 7 p.m., while the over-the-top, absolutely fabulous show starts 8 p.m. Tickets at the door are $25 per person, or call ahead to reserve an eight-person table.
Beginning Thursday, May 10th, the annual Key West Paddleboard Classic will have a multitude of activities for visitors and residents looking for something a little different this weekend. With activities ranging from a sunset sail, your first “yolo board” lesson, a Mother’s Day BBQ, or the eponymous event: an invigorating paddleboard race around the island, you’re sure to find an activity that leaves you smiling and praising what the Classic has dubbed the “Waterman’s way of life.”
