The Green Parrot bar, 601 Whitehead Street. Playing two shows tonight (at 5:30 and 10:00pm) Albert Castiglia will bring his bluesy rock n’ roll to our little island for what promises to be a crowd-stopper of a show. Having toured with rock gods such as ZZ Top and Elvin Bishop, Castiglia is a Florida native who was voted “Best Blues Guitarist” by New Times magazine. Get there early for a spot near the front!
The Hog’s Breath Saloon, 400 Front Street. Stellar opening acts like Kenny & George Victory (on stage from 1pm – 5pm) and the gorgeous Jessie Brown Trio (5:30pm – 9:30pm) will get the crowd riled up and ready to dance, but the act we’re most looking forward to is John Nemeth, a veritable blues prodigy whose swagger-drenched, toe-tapping music seems pulled from another era. A rising star with an unstoppable voice, Nemeth’s supernatural blend of retro-modern blues and soul music will enchant purists and hipsters alike. Bring your friends and we’ll see you there!
Get a closer look at some of Key West’s fabulous art, with special art exhibitions and receptions being held at galleries and shops along Upper Duval St. (between Truman and United) tonight, June 1st, from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Participating galleries and stores include the Sodu, Frangipani Gallery, Island Arts Coop, Joy Gallery, the Grand Vin wine bar and more!
