Start stockpiling napkins, the 16th annual Key West Lobsterfest is on schedule for Friday through Sunday, Aug. 10-12. Held each year to celebrate the official start of the Florida Keys lobster season, the festival includes events such as music, games, and a much-celebrated open-air lobster feast on the 100-500 block stretch of historic Duval street, held on Saturday August 11th from 12:00 noon until 11:00pm. There, visitors will be able to enjoy fresh caribbean lobster cooked in a variety of ways– baked, fried, you name it! With local chefs on hand to prepare specialties that range from classic to inventive, taste buds are sure to be left singing.
Vendors will offer a variety of arts and crafts for sale, while a free outdoor concert from 1 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Duval and Greene streets will set the soundtrack for this fun-filled event.
Other Lobsterfest events include a kick-off party and a post-feast brunch, with proceeds to benefit a scholarship fund for Key West High School students.
