We love the “Dive-In” movie series that our friends at Ibis Bay have been holding this year. Just a short walk from our own Key West hotel, the Dive-In movies are always fun and free– two of our favorite adjectives!
Tonight, witness the genius of Peter Sellers’ final film, Being There, the 1979 comedy/drama that stars Sellers as a simple-minded gardener who gets mistaken for an aristocratic political genius.
This classic film marked the end of Sellers’ illustrious career and is certainly not to be missed. The movie screening begins at 7:30 at Ibis Bay– no need for a taxi, you can easily walk over!
Ibis Bay is located at 3101 N. Roosevelt Blvd. For more information, call 305 296.1043.
If you’re downtown this afternoon and notice a particularly large number of Margaritaville tshirts, here’s why: the Parrot Heads have returned to Key West.
Parrot Heads, the superfans of Jimmy Buffet, converge upon Key West for a long weekend each November, and today marks the beginning of that special celebration. With parties, competitions, music and bar crawls scheduled by the official fan club (more information can be found at www.phip.com) these “Parrot Heads in Paradise” sure know how to have a good time. Whether you’re new to the Buffet discography or an old fan who knows every word, you’ll certainly get a kick out of this wacky, good-natured celebration.
Make sure to swing by Duval Street’s Margaritaville Café and remember: having at least one cheeseburger in paradise while you’re here is an important rite of passage.
