Walking through the lush gardens here at Parrot Key Hotel and Resort, you may have noticed we have something of an art addiction. We just can’t help but adorn our Key West hotel with incredible works of sculpture, photography and painting, many of which have been created & purchased locally. If you’re a fellow art lover like us you’ll definitely want to attend tonight’s Walk on White, where participating galleries and stores in the White St. gallery district will be open to visitors from 6:00pm to 9:00pm with light refreshments included at many participating locations. Stroll your way down White St. and enjoy new works curated by iconic Key West galleries such as Harrison Gallery, Stone Soup Gallery, The Studios of Key West, and more.
Leave yourself some extra time to take in the moving exhibition “Hidden in Plain View: Faces and Stories of Homelessness,” curated by Erika Biddle and opening tonight at The Studios of Key West (600 White St.) This multimedia exploration of Key West’s homeless population includes poetry, drawings and written words by homeless Key West residents, as well as a dramatic collection of photographs by Sheelman. Healthful refreshments will be provided by local favorite Help Yourself, whose mouthwatering (and good for you!) food is a favorite of locals and visitors alike.
An exciting new addition to the walk includes the Coffee Mill Dance Studio, located at 916 Pohalski St (just a short walk from White St.) where a special dance series entitled “hIPSO facto” will be open to the public at 8:00pm.
