To those of you who are already big fans of our beautiful resort, you won’t be surprised to learn that TripAdvisor– the internet’s largest authority on hotel reviews– has awarded Parrot Key Hotel & Resort a Certificate of Excellence for 2012! We’re all very proud to share this with you, and want to extend a big thank you to our loyal customers and fans. It’s you who have taken the time to share your positive reviews of our beautiful hotel. We are so grateful that we have the best customers in the business! Celebrate this award with us today.
We’ll set the scene for you: It’s Monday morning, you’re relaxing in your hotel room, and you realize what so many vacationers before you have also come to understand… you don’t want to leave.
While normally, the call of the real world might prove to strong too ignore, we feel that exceptions should be made on a holiday weekend. Especially one where you’re currently shacked up in paradise. So, as a special offer to our guests who’d like to extend their vacation a little longer, we’ve come up with a deal we feel might make the return to reality a little less painful. For this Memorial Day, any guest room may choose to depart our hotel on Monday morning a full seven hours later than they would normally need to– for only $100.00. That means that instead of your usual 11:00am checkout time, you’ll be able to sit back, relax, and enjoy the property (and your hotel room!) until 6:00pm that evening.
This offer is only valid for Monday, May 28th– so take advantage of it while it’s here! Ask your friendly front desk agent to arrange the details for you.
Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
Pull out the sunblock and pack your beach bag — it’s going to be a hot one! This week is going to be perfect for catching some rays at Fort Zachary Taylor or catching up on your reading by one of the pools at Parrot Key. Highs in the 80’s with nighttime lows not far behind, this is prime flip-flop & tank-top weather. Why not take the kids down to Flamingo Crossing for a homemade ice cream (a local’s favorite) or zip on over to the White Street Fishing Pier and enjoy the breezes coming off the water? If the sun gets to be too much, head into the Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory to take a rest and enjoy an oasis off Duval’s hustle and bustle. Don’t forget to stay hydrated and load up on that SPF…nothing throws a wrench into vacation plans like a scorching sunburn! And remember: Sunset Celebration, Key West’s nightly arts & music celebration, is happening every night over at Mallory Square.
Have a wonderful week!
It’s 77°F and hazy right now at Parrot Key Hotel and Resort, but patches of blue sky can be seen on the horizon. We predicted to get scattered showers of warm rain for the next couple of days, before it clears up to the more usual blue winter sky. There is a very light wind from the north right now and small chop out in the open ocean, but close to Key West the water is calm. Sunset tonight will be at 5:57 pm, and with the low pressure system coming in should provide amazing colors.
One of the most appreciated local institutions in Key West is the Tropic Cinema, a small independent movie theatre just half a block off of Duval street, which brings independant, queer and foreign film to key west, as well as opera, concerts and special events throughout the year. The Tropic was founded as the Key West Film Society in 1999 and used rented screens and venues until purchasing the building that now houses the tropic in 2004, which it expanded to 3 screens in 2007. The Tropic is one of the rare cinemas in america that sells wine and beer, by the glass or bottle, as well as key lime pie, local candy and many flavors of popcorn. The film lineup, ambiance, staff and snacks all contributes to the Tropic being voted the best cinema in Florida, and one of the best in America. Even if going to the movies is not in your Key West plans, this little theatre is worth at least a peak inside. For more information and film schedules, click here.
It is 72°F and sunny right now at Parrot Key, with some gusting winds from the northeast. There was a light rain in the early morning, which has left some moisture on all of the plants in our garden and sunning area. This week is expect to stay sunny with some partial clouds forming mid week, periodically producing showers at night. The wind is expected to kick up to almost 3o kts today and tomorrow, and then die down later this week to 5-10 kts. Fishing is very hot right now, particularly for barracuda and reef species, so if you can brave the slightly higher than normal winds, this is the time to book a trip. Sunset tonight is at 5:38 pm, expect performances at mallory square to start around 4.
It is 84°F and still sunny right now at Parrot Key. The sun is setting at 8:40 pm, check it out on our sunset peer or down at historic Mallory Square, where the Sunset Festival celebration is starting at about 7:00.
One of Key West’s most entertaining and fun spring events is almost upon us again, the Schooner Wharf Minimal Regatta! Teams compete to build a boat out of very limited supplies and sail or row it against other self built teams. Live music, great food and cheap drinks are also offered. Check it out at the Schooner Wharf website here.
It’s 82°F and partly cloudy today at Parrot Key. Ten mile per hour wind is coming from the north, but seas are fairly calm. Sunset tonight is at 8:08 pm, so Sunset Festival activities should be starting up at around 5:00.
