Traveling with family or a group of friends means a Key West vacation packed with plenty of fun surrounded by your favorite people. It can also mean the need for a little extra space to avoid feeling too cramped and ensure that everyone has some much-needed privacy. Even the closest of friends and happiest of families can end up feeling under each other’s feet in the wrong type of accommodation, so it’s important to select where you spend those precious vacation days, carefully.
At Parrot Key Resort, we have created spacious three-bedroom villas with families and groups of friends in mind. You can all enjoy each other’s company in the exclusivity of your own three-bedroom villa overlooking the sparkling Gulf waters or our tropical gardens, without compromising space. If it’s a waterfront Gulf view that you prefer, choose a three-bedroom villa offering space, privacy and luxury including pristine white sand terraces. Every bedroom has an en suite bathroom, so there will be no family fights to get to the bathroom first each morning in Key West!
The villa includes different bed type combinations over three floors so that you can decide how best to keep your friends or family well-rested each night in Key West.
Each room has is own flat screen TV for when you need time out to switch off and recharge. However, bringing the party together will also create some of the best highlights of your vacation, which is why our living rooms are perfectly designed to ensure everyone has enough leg room to sit back and watch the latest entertainment on a 42″ flat screen TV.
From the blue views of our waterfront Key West villas to the serene green of our tropical garden views, you will be surrounded by paradise in whichever view you choose. There are many words we like to use when describing the perfect vacation, and many of them happen to begin with the letter ‘s’. Whether it’s sunshine, sunsets, sea, sand, simplicity, serenity, or just space to enjoy your freedom away from the routine of everyday life. We’re going to add another ‘s’ for good measure – suites! At Parrot Key, we have created spacious one and two-bedroom suites with style and comfort in mind which make them ideal for couples seeking a little extra indulgence, or for families and friends after much-needed privacy.
Each suite features stunning views and you can choose to live among the tree tops with your own garden view balcony or choose our waterfront suites with views of Florida Bay. If you’re seeking extra savings, a garden suite is the way to go. Don’t just expect to see a pretty display of flowers when we highlight the garden views; in your suite, you will wake up every morning to the spectacular sight of towering palm trees and lush foliage, all helping you to feel the great distance between your newly-found paradise and the hectic urban sprawl you left behind. You and your loved ones will feel revitalized and refreshed living in luxury with the uplifting sight and scent of our peaceful tropical oasis surrounding your spacious suite.
Whether you choose the king one-bedroom garden suite, or the two-bedroom garden suite featuring a master king room and a second queen room or twin room, each room has its own flat-screen TV and DVD player for when you need time out to switch off and recharge. However, bringing the party together will also create some of the best highlights of your vacation, which is why our living rooms are perfectly designed to ensure everyone can sprawl out and watch the latest entertainment on a 42″ flat-screen TV and enjoy all the benefits of a dry bar area, mini-fridge (in most rooms) and coffee maker.
You may wish to stay in your suite all day with such beautiful views and comfortable surrounds, but once you step foot outside and make your way through the landscaped tropical gardens, you’ll soon discover one of our four pools, each sparkling among its own private sculpture garden.
Within a short stroll is Café Blue, serving light lunches, snacks and cool cocktails, a perfect spot for relaxing throughout the day and celebrating an unforgettable Key West sunset. Take our shuttle bus to Smathers Beach and you’ll later find yourself immersed in one of many water sports activities. Venture onto the streets of Key West and the line-up of adventure seems unending, from the Conch Tour Train, the lively atmosphere of Mallory Square, and the many museums and attractions all telling the fascinating story behind this colorful Florida Keys island. Happy vacation!

Sports fans with a need for speed can satisfy it at the Key West World Championship powerboat races set for Sunday through Sunday, Nov. 8-15, in Key West waters.
The 35th annual championship series is to feature boats raced by leading American and international teams, roaring over a 6.2-mile course that includes Key West Harbor and provides unparalleled viewing for spectators.
Boats typically face both rough and calm water conditions during the season-ending event, dubbed the Indianapolis 500 of the offshore powerboat racing circuit. The challenging course is a primary reason for Key West’s reputation as one of the world’s premier racing venues.
The course layout means boats can sometimes pass within 50 yards of fans, enabling them to experience the pulse-pounding action in a unique close-up manner.
The Key West World Championship is to kick off with a parade of race boats down the island’s legendary Duval Street beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8.
The excitement builds through the week with races Wednesday, Nov. 11; Friday, Nov. 13; and Sunday, Nov. 15. Races are scheduled at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on all three days and each features boats from multiple classes.
Among spectators’ favorites are the Superboat and Superboat Unlimited classes, which draw powerful contenders competing at speeds that can reach 140 and 150 mph, respectively.
On nonrace days, powerboat enthusiasts can view the boats, watch in-water testing runs and mingle with racers and crews at the race village on Key West’s Truman Waterfront, which lies beyond the end of Southard Street past Thomas Street and Truman Annex.
In addition, parties are planned for racers and fans.
General-admission tickets are available, as are all-inclusive VIP spectator passes for the Truman Waterfront grandstands and hospitality tent. Other popular viewing areas include waterfront hotels and Key West’s Mallory Square.

A reminder to all our readers that everyone’s favorite Caribbean celebration, Goombay Festival, begins today! Head on over to Bahama Village (ask one of our Parrot Key front desk agents to direct you to Petronia St.) and start celebrating.
Every year thousands of people attend Goombay where they delight in the various offerings, including arts and crafts, delicacies from a variety of Caribbean countries, and live entertainment ranging from gospel to reggae. Start your weekend off right with a little Goombay flavor!
You might have noticed that our little Key West Hotel has a big art collection– we take a lot of pride in supporting local artists and always try to find time to visit the art events around town. Tonight we’ll be heading over to the Walk on White, a fun and laid-back event celebrating all the fantastic works of art on White St.
Why not take a leisurely stroll down White Street to see what artists have been up to… and while you’re at it, check out the open artist studios at the Armory & 610 White Street along with a special residency cottage open house at 607/609 Ashe Street! Enjoy free wine, light snacks and as much talk about “the painter’s intentions” as you can possibly stand.
Have fun out there!
Every year, our little island of Key West plays host to a number of exciting festivals– from pirates to speed boats, there’s a celebration to fit everyone’s taste. The biggest, and most popular, is of course our legendary Fantasy Fest– ten days of crazy costumed parading, partying and other debauched activities. But equally fun is the festival that marks the imminent opening of Fantasy Fest: Goombay Festival, a celebration of the tastes, sights and sounds of Caribbean culture. We impatiently await the opening of Goombay each year–a family-friendly festival that offers incredible food, music, dancing, performances and a true sense of community– and we’re so excited that it’s finally only a few more days away!
For two fabulous days beginning this Friday, October 19th, stroll down the length of Petronia St. and see how long your willpower lasts (ours usually gives in right around the time we see the first foodstall. Conch salad, anyone?) This festival, the end of which marks the official beginning of Fantasy Fest and all its crazy glory, is the perfect way to dip your toe into the Key West festival pool. We’re certain you’ll love it.
The festival runs all day and offers something for everyone. This Friday, be sure to head down to Petronia Street and learn all about Caribbean culture… we’ll save some Conch salad for you, if you’re lucky.
