First Fridays Art Walk Tonight…

Culture hounds will be delighted to learn that tonight is Key West’s favorite art event— First Fridays— the evening in which galleries and studios open to the public for a night of fun, free wine and mingling amidst the island’s newest art treasures. A few highlights that you should be sure not to miss…

-Island Arts Co-op Gallery will host a reception for new work in painting and jewelry by Katharine Doughty, their newest member. Located at 1128 Duval Street.

-The Key West Art Center presents an exhibit of acrylics painted by Mally Weaver done to illustrate the new children’s book — “Lucky Nickel” — a true adventure story about a sea turtle rescued in southwestern Florida.  Visitors young and old are invited to view the original paintings and the book in person. Located at 301 Front Street.

– Kate Peachey is opening her private studio to visitors tonight, July 6, from 5 to 9pm.
Kate’s Studio is located in the old carriage house at the rear of 1309 Whitehead St. Both Kate’s paintings in oil or acrylic, as well as holistic jewelry designer Karen Moore’s ZEN jewelry collection, will be on view.
